Is there a simple way using the aspnet regularexpressionvalidator popup with an javascript alert message when validation finds a problem

using the aspnet regular expressionvalidator, I would rather have an alert popup with a javascript pop-up that gives a particular message than what is enabled using the built-in "dynamic" dispplay mode.
